“What I need my students to understand before they enter my eighth grade classroom is really getting a sense of using inverse operations to solve equations, to understand something like addition as being the inverse or undoing subtraction and understanding the same relationship between multiplication and division. This is really important for getting students ready for eighth grade where we move into much more complicated linear equations. And a solid basis in this idea of undoing allows students to really thrive in the eighth grade classroom.”
